joshua:katee :: georgie:lance

wow: a cross-interest post.

through my times following the tour and figuring out the whole mindset of cycling, i learned the term "domestique." the consummate domestique is georgie hincapie. lance claims that he would never have won the tour if it had not been for him.

joshua is the ultimate domestique for katee. if she wins, it will definitely be well earned, she has captured a lot of support, but i can't help but wonder what she would be like w/o joshua. don't get me wrong, he's doing really well. i just feel that he brings a very good complement to most female dancers that makes the pair succesful.

i wonder how OMGAMAZING katee would be seen if she was paired up with thayne or someone else. she could have turned out just like kherrington or any of your other really talented contemporary dancers. joshua brought that strength that none of the other dude could and that is what made that pair so great and so different. never before in the competition (i've been watching this show for a while,) has there been a dancer that was built so well for pairs dancing.

great job joshua. i won't take anything away from you, you are rockin' the house, but anyone you partner with will take it down.

as for predictions: last week i was _sure_ that mark was going to go. now i'm not as confident. but it's hard to see twitch leave (but then again who predicted mark > will?) as for the girls, i think that either courtney or chelsie could leave. they both had a good performance and a bad performance. while chelsie seems to wow everyone when she ballrooms, courtney's personality is really starting to grow (too little too late?) we'll see.

it's still early, but you can't help but get excited.

is anyone else getting cubs fever? i find myself watching highlights every night. if only boston wasn't so obsessed with their redsox, i'd be able to see a game. (i am going to the sox vs a's game on friday though. lol.)

one big sign that everyone else is starting to show more excitement (read: get drunker) for the cubs? this article totally full of win.

"The 34-year-old Chicago-area man also received a municipal ticket for assault and battery after police say he punched his sister in the mouth as she tried to intervene in the fight."

gyros w/fries? really?

just had the craziest thing happen at lunch today: we found a gyros place in copley square, which was really cool, but they served it w/fries+ketchup _in_ the gyros. it was pretty good, but in all my life, i have never seen that before. am i the only one?

it's alive! it's alive! okay, it's just a dining table, but still

finally, the house is complete.

the much anticipated dining table arrived this morning, along with some chairs. we used the discovery of an asian grocery store in porter square and the rainy weather as an excuse to make some sushi and have our first meal at the table.

i think it went well. what do you think?

i wonder if people actually read this crap.

question:  i just lost my phone on the train.  iphone?  yay or nay?

i've seen some reviews online but could use some personal experience stuff.

every day has it's ups and downs.

ups:
  • rachel is well enough to go back to work. she really appreciated all of the love
  • going to see batman tonight w/friends. give me a call if you want to join us, or if you want to see it another night also.
  • comfort made it into the final 8 (mikey now owes me a dollar)
  • the cubs are in first place. with a +106 run differential.
downs:
  • gev was kicked off of so you think you can dance. i can't believe he beat out mark!
  • the tour is starting to lose it's steam with me.
  • encryption and security is a hard problem

at least he wasn't on my fantasy team.

and when you thought it couldn't get any worse.
i was having so much fun watching the tdf. i loved watching phil liggett on versus every day, i had a fantasy cycling team too. i rooted for christian vandevelde and garmin chipotle, wondered if big georgie would finally win one for himself.
i knew that there were problems before the tour, team astana not being allowed to compete, and then the spanish guy early on. but ricco? srsly? everyone in the cycling community must be pissed as hell. broadcasters were lauding the so called "cobra" for winning his two stages so impressively.
if he's guilty or not, man. this sucks. makes you wonder if they had a doping tour de france and a non-doping tour... sort of like having 5k and 10k races. that is a potential way to resolve this arms race.

companies and teams work to find drugs that help you that aren't on the list yet.
racing officials work to keep teams and racers clean.
why not a) allow doping and b) make it another classification. sort of how you have the white "best rider under 25" jersey, have a brown "poop" jersey for the rider whose carreer is most like poop.

you heard it here first kids: gev

gev is the new sleeper.  everyone is all up on twitch and joshua and will.  oh man, i'm really impressed with gev.

and i think that comfort has come back revitalized.  my predictions are mark and kherrington to go home tomorrow.  i totally should have had a fantasy so you think you can dance pool.

movie blitz

one good thing about the east coast:  your midnight releases are before the west coast's midnight releases.

i'm totally going to be that guy to spoil "the dark knight" for everyone in seattle.  (90 mins into the movie, snape kills dumbledore.)

going to see the movie at the Somerville Theatre, the best part of this place is that they serve beer and ice cream on the cheap and encourage you to bring them into the movie.

i was browsing movie times and saw something even more "whaaat?!?"

what are you up to this weekend?

madness at the apple store

i noticed this starting monday or tuesday this week: someone from venezuela was boasting that they were "three days early, first in line."

when i got off the train at copley, i noticed lines all over the place. tango told me a similar line over at the apple store. is this really something that huge?

i guess i'm under contract w/tmobile and have used that as an excuse not to get excited. ask me about this again in march.

either way, who left for work early and camped out in line for a phone?

it's just too good

bollywood on sytycd

last night was something revolutionary, amazing, all those fun superlatives. a bollywood routine on so you think you can dance. and it was performed by joshua and katie, the power couple of the week. we must have watched it three times last night.  the expressions, movements and energy they exhibited set them apart from the rest of the field.  oh man.

on another note:  who waits in line for an iPhone three days in advance?  ridiculous IMO.

almost as bad as march madness: watching the tour at work.

the theory of little bits

according to dave seidman: size does matter. when it comes to desserts.

his thought process was that if you are eating something that can coat your tongue, you want to eat it in as little portions as you can and still achieve a full tasting experience. this way you can draw out the length of time you can experience the goodness.

the only problem today was the three hours at the bank of america branch. warning to everyone that wants to use them as your banking. their systems and accounts created in washington do not really work if you move outside of the area. it has something to do with the smaller local banks that they bought up and never bothered to convert/centralize the account information. a hassle to say the least.

and i just figured out why i started blogging, "it seems to provide a creative outlet for me that doesn't involve semicolons and curly braces. "

week two in the books.

a lot has changed in the past few weeks: the whole leave one job, get married, change cities, start a new job. this last week saw an ever more interesting transition.

i started twittering.

you thought i was going to by moooshy like, "we finally felt like a married couple, not being around those retards for a month and (gasp!) cooking tofu one night!"

lol

but seriously folks, week two did show us get into our groove here in boston. so you think you can dance is awesome, we're cooking a lot of great food, meeting new people. we've even had people come over to visit us!

i even think that we are going to have our first seattle-based visitor this weekend. so exciting.

sytycd: wtb a longer acronym. pst

so i have to say, "so you think you can dance" is one of my favorite shows. and i think that this season they are out doing themselves. last season, as the competition started to whittle down to the final so many, people were getting dinged because the dances weren't complex enough. have to do a ballroom and can't? they would just make you do a bunch of crap that was sort of samba, but not really.
this year they aren't pulling any punches, and the show is that much the better for it. the quality of the dances are so amazing. all of the buzz about this emergence of "lyrical hip hop" and having two mia michaels dances in an episode! oh man.

if you want to join rachel and i, we tivo each episode and watch them either later that night or the next night. soo good.

now if only they had the jabbawockeez when they showcased "the best dance crew in the country."

lol

at long last, the racharu is back

words from the wise, or at least me: if you have to ship a car cross-country, think long and hard about whether you really need it, and how your life will be if it takes 3 weeks longer than it should to make the journey. this comes straight after the racharu, rachel's fun little subaru wagon arrived in boston last night. we shipped it on may 23, it arrives june 30. oof.

it other news, our ultimate team is 4-0! we played zone for the first time today and we did halfway decent. man, i forgot how hard it is to get back into shape after sitting on your ass for six month-- only by playing ultimate. it hurts. but it's worth it.

i hope.
